FIFA Club World Cup Japan (Dec 11-21) – Congratulations Manchester United

The biggest, albeit not the most famous, club tournament in the world. Previously, the Tokyo Cup, this tournament used to pair the best European club against the top South American team. But from 2005, the tournament included the top clubs from six confederations. I enjoyed watching an amateur team from Australia going against the European champions a few years ago. Truly David against Goliath.

Below are the results from the previous three years.

2007
Winner: AC Milan
Runners-Up: Boca Juniors
Third: Urawa Red Diamonds
Fourth: Etoile Sportive du Sahel

2006
Winner: Sport Club Internacional
Runners-Up: FC Barcelona
Third: Ahly Sporting Club
Fourth: CF América

2005
Winner: Sao Paulo FC
Runners-Up: Liverpool FC
Third: Deportivo Saprissa
Fourth: Al Ittihad
