Yes, the current French Embassy in Hiroo will be destroyed! Actually, the embassy will be relocated next door, but in the meantime, the former offices will feature what the embassy is calling “No Man’s Land.” The area will feature rising artists from both France and Japan. Visitors are welcome! No passports needed. If you’ve never had a chance to visit the embassy, this is a good opportunity. The last day will be on January 31, 2010. Don’t miss it!

Nezu Museum Reopens

The Nezu Museum, which houses the private collection of Nezu Kaichirō (1860–1940), the late president of Tobu Railway, reopened October 7th after being closed since May 2006. The museum building has gone through a renovation designed by architect Kuma Kengo.

The first exhibition is “National Treasure Nachi Waterfall and Representations of Nature,” which runs to November 8th. The museum is in the Omotesando area and includes a serene Japanese garden with a pond, along with many tea houses. Take in the tranquility of traditional Japan, right off the fashionable Omotesando area.

Museum Hours: 10:00-17:00 (last entrance 4:30)
Closed on Mondays (Except when national holiday falls on Monday. Then Tuesday is closed.), New Year’s holidays and during exhibition installations

Tokyo Vegetarian Festival will kick off at Yoyogi Park Event Area again this year. Sponsored by the Japan Vegetarian Society, the festival will feature many vegetarian restaurants, earth-friendly shops, live bands and speakers. It has never been such a good time to be a vegetarian. Be healthy and environmentally friendly!
